Karen Chen Skating Workshop 2025
with Samuel Mindra, Michael Xie, and Ryan Azadpour
Please join us for a special figure skating workshop with two-time Olympian Karen Chen!
We are excited to welcome Karen to Portland after just having received her Gold Medal from the controversial 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Team event. Portland’s US Figure Skating National competitors Samuel Mindra, Michael Xie, and Ryan Azadpour will join Karen for this amazing workshop experience to share the knowledge and skills that enabled them to achieve their goals atop the podium.
This workshop is open to skaters in Aspire, Pre-Freeskate, Freeskate 1-6, Adult LTS, Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary or Pre-Juvenile levels.*

ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A COMMEMORATIVE WORKSHOP T-SHIRT! Size preference and pick up at the workshop only guaranteed for skaters who register before January 6. Participants who register after January 6 may receive an alternative size or receive at a later date.
*Skaters from Carousel FSC and skaters currently enrolled in Lloyd Center Learn to Skater without club affliction will receive special membership pricing. (Lloyd Center LTS skaters must not be members of a USFS Club to qualify)
**Late registration will open if space allows at General Registration pricing only.
Refunds & Cancellation Policy: Refunds will only be issued if the event is cancelled. Refunds for any other reason, including medical, will not be issued.

COACH SHADOWING
We will be allowing coaches to shadow this workshop. Carousel FSC, Team AXIS and Current on staff coaches at LLoyd will be able to shadow at no-cost. ALL other coaches will have a $20 fee. ALL coaches are REQUIRED to fill out a coach registration and check in prior to getting on the ice.
Workshop Classes description
Participants will be divided into groups based on current LTS class or competition skating level. Email notifications will be sent indicating group number and arrival time no later than 9am on Saturday January 11.
All participants will receive
COMMEMORATIVE WORKSHOP T-SHIRT- Size preference guaranteed if registered before Monday Jan 6th.
20 minute off ice warm up class
1 hour of on ice instruction
20 minute cool down stretch class.
1 hour open session from 12-1pm with Karen, Samuel, Michael & Ryan. Smile, you may be on TV!!
30 minute Q&A and Photo opportunity from 1:15-1:45 in the lobby area with Karen, Samuel, Michael, & Ryan.
Participants must have their own skates. Please bring athletic shoes, a water bottle, yoga mat and jump rope if you have one. Any special needs or requests please email Malia.

10:45-11:00 — Ice Cut/ Coaches Break
11:00-12:00 — Groups 5 & 6 On Ice
11:00-11:20 — Groups 3 & 4 Stretch
12:00-1:00 — All groups Open Skate with Karen, Samuel, Michael, & Ryan
12:10-12:30 — Groups 5 & 6 Stretch
