Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test result within 48 hours of workshop start time is required to participate. PCR test preferred. Masks are always required, including during on ice classes.



OverView

Please join us for this rare opportunity to learn from legendary World and Olympic coach Frank Carroll! He will also be accompanied by his former student and international medalist Daisuke Murakami. Carousel Sherwood FSC is honored to be hosting Mr. Carroll, who was inducted into the Professional Skaters Association, U.S. Figure Skating, and World Figure Skating Hall of Fames. He has coached numerous champions including Michelle Kwan, Evan Lysacek, Gracie Gold, and Mirai Nagasu. The two-day workshop will take place at Sherwood Ice Arena on January 22 & 23, 2022.

The workshop is open to skaters of all levels, including adults and entry-level beginners in free skate. Skaters will be split into separate classes by level and skating ability. We will offer several different class levels for the workshop:  Competitive, Aspire, Adult and  Coaches. Please see below for descriptions of each level type.

Registration

Workshop registration will be accepted online via the club website starting Wednesday January 5, 2022. Please note that space is extremely limited, and entries will be granted based on a first come, first serve basis.  NO tickets will be sold at the door, all ticket sales must be done online.  Please see above for workshop prices. The deadline for registration will be 5:00 PM on Sunday January 16, 2022.

Workshop Levels- All Classes sold separately 

Competitive on Ice

Skaters in the Competitive level must be a No-Test level or above skater and able to land a single axel. This group will be split into three classes (Class A, B and Class C) depending on skill level and number of entries. Saturday’s On Ice class will be 50 minutes and Sunday’s On Ice class will be 60 minutes. Please see the workshop schedule in this announcement for more details. Cost for competitive level classes will be $60 for Saturday and $75 for Sunday. Tickets will not be available at the door; all classes must be reserved.

All competitive skaters will be granted one chaperone pass. Additional chaperone passes will be available for $20. CSFSC members may request one additional chaperone pass free of charge. Chaperones may observe group classes from the bleachers and attend Q&A sessions.

 Learn to Skate & Aspire (Invitation Only) 

Skaters in the Learn to Skate must be enrolled in Pre-Free skate through Free skate 6. Aspire skaters must be invited to attend by rink Skating Director.  Please contact us for questions on eligibility. Our LTS/Aspire participants will have one 30-min on-ice group lesson. Skaters may also sign up for an Off Ice class for an additional $10. Please see the workshop schedule in this announcement for more details. Cost of the Learn to Skate/Aspire class is $25.

All Learn to Skate entries will be granted one chaperone pass. Additional chaperone passes will be available for $20. CSFSC members may request one additional chaperone pass free of charge. Chaperones may observe group classes from the bleachers and attend the Q&A session.

Off Ice and Q&A Session

Skaters in the Competitive, Aspire and LTS level classes can attend an Off Ice Class and Q&A session with Mr. Carroll.  This group will be divided into three classes by skill level. The Off Ice portion will last approximately 30 minutes and 30 minutes for Q&A portion.  Parents may join for the Q&A portion of the class, but are asked to wait outside the classroom during the off ice time.  Skaters may need to bring a yoga mat and other equipment, if requested by Mr. Carroll. A full list of what will be needed will be included in a confirmation email. This class will be held upstairs of Sherwood Ice Arena at the Sherwood Dance Academy in either studio A or C. The discussion and question time is for skaters and parents, NO COACHES please. Cost for this class is $10 per skater.  

 Adults ONLY ON & OFF Ice package

Participants who sign up for the Adult Package must be 18 years of age or older. This package includes a hour long on ice class then a 15 minute stretch class and 30 minute discussion group. The discussion will be geared towards skaters and officials from our adult community. Bring your questions and an open ear to gather some insight from Frank Carroll.  Cost of the Adult ONLY on and off ice Class is $60.

Adults NOT participating in the on-ice class may purchase a pass for just the adult discussion. Cost for the Adult Only discussion is $10.

Coaches Pass

Guest coaches may purchase a Shadow Pass for $20. No tickets available at door, pre-registration only. Coaches will be allowed to enter the ice for observation of on-ice group classes. Coaches and Junior Coaches will have a coach specific discussion time with Mr. Carroll at the end of the day on Saturday. Coaches DO NOT have access to Skater/Parent Q&A. 

CSFSC Members Only Off Ice and Q&A

Current Carousel Members and Affiliates have the opportunity to participate in a bonus Q&A session with Mr. Carroll, hosted by the Junior Board. Members MUST pre-register for this class by clicking the members only registration button above. Due to limited space this group maybe limited to skaters and coaches only.

Cancellations and Refunds

No FULL REFUNDS after January 16, 2022. Partial refunds will be considered on an individual basis for medical reasons only. Doctor verification letter maybe required.
